Working around the ever-changing landscape presented by COVID-19 and lockdown restrictions, Cape Town Opera would like to announce its slightly-revised programme for the rest of the 2021 season.

Monteverdi : Vespro Della Beata Vergine
We kick off the second half of our season with our filmed production of Monteverdi’s Vespro Della Beata Vergine on DSTV’s kykNET. To watch please tune in to channel 144 on 1 August 2021 at 10:30am or channel 146 at 12:00pm.
September
The Judith Neilson National Tour
Puccini : La bohème
From 8 to 19 September we embark on the Judith Neilson National Tour with a newly-staged version of Puccini’s La bohème. Our production of this much-loved opera will be directed by Magdalene Minnaar and kicks off in East London, after which it makes its way to Graaff-Reinet, Gqeberha and Oudtshoorn.

Spirituals and Grace Notes
Cape Town Opera will launch its Sunday Series of Spirituals and Grace Notes concerts in October. Please visit the Cape Town Opera website for more information regarding the performances.
French Songbook
French Songbook, a recital programme celebrating 100 years of French art song, takes place on 9 October at Quoin Rock. Included in the ticket will be a choice of either lunch or dinner at the fabulous Gåte Restaurant.
November
Puccini : La rondine
The dates for the production of Puccini’s La rondine, to be directed by Christine Crouse, have been moved to 16, 18 and 20 November 2021, and the venue from the Baxter to the Artscape Theatre. We are excited to announce that this will be an in-house production featuring soloists from the Cape Town Opera Chorus and Young Artist Programme.
Britten : Turn of the Screw – cancelled
The above-mentioned changes have unfortunately necessitated the cancellation of Britten’s Turn of the Screw, originally scheduled for November.
