Cape Town Opera is proud to present Young Artists Brittany Smith (soprano) and Ané Pretorius (soprano), with Managing Director Alex Gabriel at the piano, in French Songbook, a concert celebrating a century (1840s – 1940s) of French mélodie.

Our journey begins and ends in the salons and cabaret theatres of Paris and traverses Europe’s ‘golden age’ (La Belle Epoque) via the desert sands of North Africa and the battlefields of war. The programme includes melodies by French masters such as Berlioz, Bizet, Duparc, Hahn, Ravel, Satie and Poulenc, as well as a few surprises by lesser-known French composers.
