On Monday 3rd April we wish Bon Voyage to CTO’s National Schools Tour.
A team of seven singers, two drivers and one pianist will travel 4, 600 kilometres to assist students in underdeveloped areas to compete in the SASCE (South African Schools Choral Eistedfodd) competition.
Every year, SASCE tests the vocal skills of music students aged 15-18. Training for the competition is months long and develops self-esteem and fosters skills such as public speaking, group leadership and discipline.
CTO’s National Schools Tour team, consisting of 7 singers, 2 drivers and a pianist offers three hour vocal boot camps during which they teach singing skills and repertoire.
The tour is in its 8th year and has a demonstrated ability to positively affect the school choirs’ performance with which they work.
The itinerary starts at the Holy Cross Church in the Western Cape, then to Mosel Bay, followed by De Aar (Northern Cape), Bethlehem (Free State), then to Durban and Kokstad (KZN) before returning to Cape Town.
