CLASSICAL NOTES WITH CAPE TOWN OPERA AND DE KUILEN HIGH GIRLS CHOIR

Award-winning choirs join forces for an afternoon of song, 18 members Cape Town Opera chorus and 98 choristers of the De Kuilen High Girls’ choir will fill the NG Kerk Moedergemeente, Van Riebeeck road, Kuilsriver with their powerful voices at 16:00 on Saturday 20 July. The programme includes repertoire from CTO’s very successful production of Maria Stuarda (The Prayer Scene), sacred music from CTO’s international touring concerts of African Angels, African Passion and Grace Notes. Other highlights include ‘Homeward Bound’, ‘Ave Verum’ from Stabat Mater by Karl Jenkins, African American Spirituals such as ‘Elijah Rock’, ‘Wade in the water’, ‘The Battle of Jericho’ and ‘Didn’t My Lord deliver Daniel’ all arranged by Moses Hogan. A soloist from De Kuilen High School will join Siphesihle Mdena (CTOC tenor) to sing Panis Angelicus and CTO’s rising soloist, soprano Brittany Smith sings Moses Hogan’s beautiful and heartfelt arrangements of ‘Deep River’ and ‘Give me Jesus’.
