Four South African singers: Msimelelo Mbali (bass); Owen Boikhutso Metsileng (baritone); Caroline Modiba (soprano) and Mandla Ndebele (bass) travelled more than 10, 000 kilometres to join 1125 singers from across the globe who had qualified for the final rounds of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, held this year at Helikon Opera in Moscow.
We are delighted to congratulate Mandla Ndebele for being one of the 15 singers selected for the final rounds that will be held on July 6th.
The prestigious Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition is known as the springboard for a career in opera or the “Wall Street of Voices.”
Cape Town Opera’s Managing Director Michael Williams joined the jury of 13 that consists exclusively of opera and casting directors from international renowned opera houses, who award additional engagements to the participants. The engagement ratio of past participants in the final rounds is about 70%
