On Oct. 24, at the Duet Gala, members of the audience can anticipate a glittering night of opera with twelve talented singers:
Levy Sekgapane (tenor); Noluvuyiso Mpofu (soprano); Mandla Mndebele (baritone); Hlengiwe Mkhwanazi (soprano); Siphamandla Yakupa (soprano); Frances du Plessis (soprano); Violina Anguelov (mezzo); Nonhlanhla Yende (mezzo); Nkululeko Masuku (tenor); Johannes Slabbert (tenor); Martin Mkhize (baritone) and Thomas Mohlamme (bass).
Cape Town Opera’s Associate Music Director Tim Murray will conduct the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
Adding to the audience’s enjoyment of the sparkling programme of arias, duets and ensembles from operas by Mozart, Rossini, Massenet and Richard Strauss occasion, is the knowledge that this is a fundraising event for the aptly named joint endowment trust – Duet, established by Wendy Ackerman in August 2014 for the advancement and preservation of The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and Cape Town Opera.
