Siphokazi has been singing for as long as she can remember, having always held the knowledge that it was what she wanted to do. She remembers hearing her first aria and being amazed at what the human voice could achieve. With the support of her family and a high school teacher, she was able to pursue singing as her career. Siphokazi studied at Nelson Mandela University for three years before completing an undergraduate and subsequent postgraduate degree at UCT in 2020. Although she was initially nervous about the suitability of her vocal technique and acting ability to the world of opera, she’s been able to improve greatly thanks to mentorship and her own dedication to moulding her talents. Siphokazi hopes to continue to refine her skills, perhaps specialising in bel canto, and to work in Europe and throughout the rest of the world, sharing her gifts wherever she goes.
