Rabia Davids has spent over three decades working in the performing arts. A Cape Town native, she began her work in the arts as a singer in an all-girl ensemble with her sisters. Joining Cape Town Opera in 2008 to work on The Phantom of the Opera, she currently heads CTO’s wardrobe department. Among Rabia’s other achievements, she has travelled the world with Maritha Visagie, working on a number of acclaimed productions including Madama Butterfly, Otello and La traviata to name a few. She was also the principal dresser for Pieter Toerien’s Lion King productions in Johannesburg and Tai Pei, and counts Rosenkavalier at Cape Town Opera and the international production of Mamma Mia as defining career moments. The unlimited possibilities presented by creativity are what inspire her, and working at CTO is a great example of this, as the organisation offers room to grow and continues to invest in the next generation of creators and performers.
