Discovering opera while still in high school, Nkululeko developed a sustained passion for the genre that’s led her to Cape Town Opera’s vocal ensemble not once, but twice: she now returns for his second stint after having been a member from 2011 to 2017. Along with her love for the music itself, it’s the warmth and enthusiasm of the people she works with that bring her back: “You’re always looking forward to coming in,” she says, “because there’s so much positive energy in our rehearsal room.” A fan of Mozart and Bellini, she also has a strong appreciation for two roles that she hopes to take on one day in the future: that of Dido in Dido and Aeneas and of Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana.”
