Lula owes a great debt to a detention and his primary school choir mistress: it was while sweeping and singing during an after-school punishment that his remarkable voice was overheard by the teacher. He’s been developing and sharing those vocal talents ever since, enjoying opportunities to work with the likes of Sir Willard White and travel the world with CTO. A poignant moment that Lula will never forget is being on tour in Holland as news broke of Nelson Mandela’s passing – the realisation that the South African leader was deeply loved around the world, and being a part of the world’s mourning of the great man as they sang in the streets of Europe.
