A mother of two, Maritha Visagie was introduced to the opera as a child through recordings. It wouldn’t be until she joined the Cape Town Opera that she would experience the full stage spectacle. With a B.A. (Honours) in Drama, she now works tirelessly as the Head of Production for the CTO. Among her memories of the time with the opera so far, a definite highlight as Wardrobe Manager was Christine Crouse’s Madama Butterfly and as Costume Designer: The Rake’s Progress, Maria Stuarda and The Fairy Queen. To her, there are few things as wondrous as the intricate interiors of old European theatres or as precious as the friendships made on tours, but spending time with her family is what she treasures most.
