Madré Loubser is a multi-talented arts manager, educator, music librarian and professional flautist. Loubser holds a Bachelor of Music and Performance Diploma in Music from the prestigious Stellenbosch University Conservatory. Currently, as the Head of Youth Development and Education at Cape Town Opera, she focuses on creating, developing, and executing music education projects, focusing on opera.
She has served the following government organisations in various capacities from 2018-2021: Western Cape Representative: National Arts Council of South Africa- National Government, Chairperson of the Cultural Council: Western Cape Cultural Commission, Commission member of the Western Cape Cultural Commission: Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport – Western Cape Government.
Well-versed in classical music, opera, and select African vocal repertoire, she also works as a Music Administrator and acts as Company Manager for Cape Town Opera’s national and international tours.
In 2020, Loubser was a recipient of the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans Award for her exceptional work in arts education and was appointed a Distinguished Fellow of the Jakes Gerwel Fellowship, in partnership with the Mail & Guardian, in May 2021.
During 2022, she was the recipient of two prestigious awards, based on her work as Head of Cape Town Opera’s Youth Development and Education Department: from the Western Cape Government Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport for After School Arts and Culture Coaching Excellence and from the International Opera Awards for Equal Opportunities and Impact.
Recently, in 2024, Loubser was the only South African chosen to participate in two Opera Europa courses: the Opera Management Course handmade for young opera managers under 35 and the Artistic and Producing Forum. Her participation highlights her continuous commitment to enhancing her expertise in opera and artistic management on a global level.
