Having earned her B(Mus) at UCT, Elisabeth found herself in a predicament peculiar to the world of opera: she was well-qualified to pursue a career in performance but too young for her voice to be at the level of maturity required. So, she’s taken the initiative to see the stage from another side: assisting in the implementation and directing of Cape Town Opera’s productions. For Elisabeth, with her natural love for travel, exploration and new experiences in general, the role has thus far proved an ideal fit: she’s already travelled to the Netherlands as an assistant director on the African Passion Tour. When it comes to intimidating tasks like adjusting productions for performances in different venues each night, Elisabeth’s quick to credit the performers for all the help they’ve given her in finding her feet – plus, if the excitement gets too much, there’s always a healthy dose of administration and visa applications to balance it out!
