As he learned about the world of opera, Andile quickly found that its joys and challenges are often intertwined: for example, learning Italian wasn’t easy, but he discovered that singing in a foreign language brought a transportive quality to his singing. Since then, it’s taken him far: his most memorable opera experiences are his travels, such as a tour to Berlin for a production of Porgy and Bess. Andile enjoys spreading the word about Cape Town Opera, because he’d like to see others receiving the same opportunities that he has – or just having the pleasure of listening and learning that opera is for everyone.
